Osteopathy & Whiplash

"Whiplash" is usually due to a traumatic accident that takes the body beyond what it can anatomically deal with i.e. a car crash. The trauma is stored as shock within the soft tissue of the body and stays shocked in the position it was traumatised. Your body is always trying to give you 110% health, it loves freedom of movement and hates being locked up as in a whiplash. This is why whiplash is so painful usually affecting the neck and low back because it’s trying to tell you something - GET IT FIXED!!! To fix it the therapist must read the body carefully and using specialised very gentle techniques take the shock out of the body to allow it to move freely. The body loves the release this gives and the pain dies down . "Shock release" as this is called does not involve "cracking" the back. The body is far more intelligent than the therapist and knows exactly what it needs to enjoy freedom again. The therapists job is to listen carefully to what the body is saying and act appropriately. We like good results every treatment and most whiplash injuries are resolved with about 4-5 treatments.
